What Web3 Protocol is the Calaxy Wallet using?

All Calaxy wallets are Hedera Wallets under the hood and utilize the Hedera Token Service (HCS) and Hedera Consensus Service (HCS) to power various web3 functionality within the platform.

What is Hedera's native token?

Hedera's native token is called HBAR. You can learn more about HBAR here.

What are gas fees?

Gas fees are a necessary component of completing traceable, immutable transactions on a cryptocurrency network.

Are there gas fees on Calaxy?

There *are* nominal gas fees that are factored into the price of every experience and subscription purchased on Calaxy. Because Calaxy is Built on Hedera, these gas fees are predictable and typically do not amount to more than a couple of cents.

Calaxy pays gas fees on just over 50% of the on-chain transaction types that take place on the platform. For the full list, check out the Calaxy Gas Fee Payer Schedule.

Why is a PIN required every time I open Calaxy?

Many Web3 applications require users to input their 12-word keyphrase every time they open the app. This 6-digit PIN is an easier way to allow you to unlock your account each time you try to log in. We do plan to implement bio signatures (FaceID, Fingerprint) in the near future to make this even easier.

Why do I need to back up my 12-word keyphrase?

You can think of your 12-word keyphrase as your wallet’s password. When setting up your wallet, your keyphrase is ONLY presented to you and is NOT stored on Calaxy services. Because of this setup, Calaxy can ensure that only you have access to your wallet which drastically increases the security of your financial assets.

I lost my 12-word keyphrase. How can I get it back?

If you can still access your Calaxy account, navigate to your Calaxy Profile and click the three-dot icon in the upper-right-hand-corner of the appl. Click “App Settings” and then “Backup Wallet.”

Make sure you don’t reveal your phrase to anyone because that would mean they could access your wallet whenever they please.

If you can’t access your Calaxy account, there’s unfortunately nothing Calaxy (or anyone) can do to recover your 12-word keyphrase. Any assets that you had in your Calaxy Wallet will remain in that wallet for when you recover your keyphrase.

You will need to create a new wallet if you’d like to have a wallet associated with your Calaxy account.
